Captain William C. Margedant was born in Dusseldorg Germany, November 15, 1835. He served in the 9th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and later on the staffs of Generals Rosecans, Seigel, and Thomas as a Superintendant Topographicial Engineer. He was a member of the GAR.
