George Garrett Sickles
1797 - 1887

The Crypt of General Daniel Sickles' father, George Garrett Sickles - completed just days before his death in 1887.
Located at Beechwood Cemetery in New Rochelle, NY
When the large granite slab is lifted from the top, a staircase leads down to an underground vault.

Also later interred at this site were George's second wife, Mary Sheridan Sickles,
and all three of his children from that marriage:
Roma (Romey) Meade Walsh
Pera (Perie) Abou Quinn
Althea (Alta) Henrietta Denham

Sarah Sickles, a niece of George, is in the crypt as well.

In 1895, Daniel E. Sickles was sued by the step-son of his father's second wife, who seemed perturbed that the General
had the remains of his spaniel, Bo-Bo, buried in the family plot. As was often the case in Dan's life, he prevailed,
thus keeping the spaniel as yet one more Sickles family member interred in the Beechwood family plot.
