Microfilm
of originals filmed at the State Historical Department, Des Moines,
Iowa. Contains indexes made by Amy
Noll, Secretary to the Dept. of Iowa, GAR, giving names of soldiers, birth
dates and places, death dates (if available) and cemeteries where buried, and
the G.A.R. posts which veterans belonged to, as well as their membership
records. The membership records are arranged by county and then by posts
within each county. They include veteran's name, residence, occupation, date
and place of birth, date and place of death, cemetery where buried, war
record, dates of enlistment and discharge, names of parents, spouse, children
(if given), and sources of information.
The alphabetical index to veterans of the Civil War was filmed twice.
It appears to have been compiled from cemetery surveys and other
records. The index cards have been
digitized and are available online at:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/2351982 |
Microfilm,
69 rolls of film (35 mm). Also
available digitally at FamilySearch. |

Possibly other records. Copies
of the Post 123 membership cards are also available at the Botna Valley
