Bartow S. Weeks was elected Commander-in-Chief at the 10th National Encampment held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, August 24-29, 1891. He never was a Department Commander.

He was present at the first meeting of Lafayette Camp #140, in New York City on December 14, 1888, which was held at Mazetti’s at the corner of 6th Avenue and 49th Street. Commander-in-Chief George Abbott of Chicago was present and gave the Camp permission to keep the Camp Charter open for two meetings. At that time he was elected to the Camp council.

By the next meeting on January 11, 1889. US Grant, Jr., son of Gen. US Grant was a member as well as P. Tecumseh Sherman, son of Maj. Gen. W.T. Sherman.

He was elected Lt. Col. of the New York Divison at the Division Encampment in 1889 in Peekskill, New York. He was appointed Judge Advocate General on September 20, 1888. He was 27 when he joined Camp #140. He gave his address as Round Hill, Connecticut and work address as 10 Wall Street and was a lawyer. He died on Febrary 3, 1922.

His father was Henry Weeks, who was Colonel of the 12th NYSV for 17 months and belonged to GAR post #259 in New York. The 12th New York was known as the Onondaga County Regiment, Independence Guard and the Dozen.
