W. Earl Corbin

1965/1966

W. Earl Corbin was elected Commander-in-Chief of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War at the 84th National Encampment held in Richmond, Virginia, August 19, 1965. Brother Corbin was initiated into the Akron Camp #27 in October 1917. He served as Camp Commander in 1925 and as Department Commander in 1954 and again in 1955. He has also filled the offices of Junior Vice Commander-in-Chief and Senior Vice Commander-in-Chief and has been a member of the National Council of Administration.

His father, William D. Corbin, enlisted in the 139th Pennsylvania Volunteers and served three years during the Civil War. Brother Corbin is retired after working for 42 years with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He attends the East Market Street United Church of Christ where he as been elected Elder Emeritus. He is also active as a member of the Summit County Council American War Veterans.

He died on May 27, 1972.
