General Order #16

Click here (pdf) for General Order #16 which declares the Department of Oklahoma in violation of its requirements, and therefore suspends the Department of Oklahoma, which means that the Department will not be in good standing with the National organization and will lose their right to vote at the National encampment unless this is resolved immediately.

General Order #15

Click here (pdf) for General Order #15 which revokes the Charter of Camp GAR Post 2 #299, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This Camp has been inactive for some time and has continuously failed to file reports and IRS 990-N’s with the Department. The remaining active Camp members should be transferred (if desired) to another Camp within the Department.

Nat’l Committee on Legislation

The National Committee on Legislation of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War keeps Brothers apprised of proposed federal and state legislation affecting the welfare of the Order or the Constitution or welfare of the United States. The April 2014 report is now available here.

Federal legislation analyzed in this report includes that of the first session of the 113th Congress (beginning 3 January 2013) through the start of the second session (up to 29 March 2014). Very little legislation has been introduced in Congress or the states that is of particular interest to the Order.
